Building Children's Hospitals, Starting in Ghana.

Eshun Foundation is working to expand access to affordable, high-quality pediatric healthcare in Africa, beginning with a 25-bed children's hospital in Ghana.

We bring together funding, partnerships, medical capacity, and infrastructure to help close the gap in child health outcomes where the need is greatest.

About Us

Why Eshun Foundation Exists

Dr. Francis Eshun, Founder of Eshun Foundation

Dr. Francis Eshun, MD

Founder, Eshun Foundation

Dr. Francis Eshun, MD, Founder, is a Ghanaian-American pediatric oncologist who has spent his career treating children with cancer in the United States. But it is the children he could not reach that drove him to found this organization.

Years ago, a phone call changed him. A Ghanaian child had been diagnosed with leukemia and sent home to die. Not because the disease was untreatable, but because her hospital lacked the basic capacity to classify it and manage its complications. Dr. Eshun had heard versions of that story many times.

He brought proposals to American medical institutions and prominent figures who had the resources to act. He heard nothing back. So he decided to build it himself.

Eshun Foundation is his answer: not a medical mission, not a temporary fix, but a long-term investment in the infrastructure and capacity that allows African children to be treated where they live, by people who know them.

His vision is simple and ambitious in equal measure: that one day, no child on the African continent should be sent home to die from a disease that medicine already knows how to cure.

Why Children's Healthcare

Children Deserve a Stronger Start.

In too many communities, preventable illness, delayed treatment, and limited hospital access continue to cost young lives. Eshun Foundation is focused on changing that by helping create systems where children can receive the care they need closer to home.
